North Midlands Jersey Cattle Club
Small herd wins North Midlands Jersey Herd Competition
Jerseys were judged to be the Champion herd in this year’s
North Midlands Jersey Cattle Club Herd Competition.
Shorthorn Breeder, Graham Madeley (Rodway Dairy Shorthorns)
who judged the competition, praised the Club for the quality
of entries and said;
“I looked at the Bar-M
Herd and thought, if I was looking for a smaller herd to start
in the Jersey breed, there weren’t any animals there
which I’d be unhappy with. Although there were a few
older cows, which were smaller, they were none the worse for
it and were holding onto their udders well.”
Best individual animal award - Roy and Christine Bailey’s
Abbotsley Achilles Estelle,
Best heifer born in 2012 - Jez and Helen Allen’s Plardiwick
Best bull - AW and ME Wright’s Fourcrosses Allstar Anthony,
Best homebred animal to have completed her first lactation

presentation dinner was held at Amerton Farm, Stafford, as
the North Midland Jersey Cattle Club celebrated 25 years since
their very first meeting there, in 1988.
