2008 Calf Show
This year’s Calf Show took place on Saturday the 6th September in the Pedigree
Sales Arena, Moira. Judging was in the very capable hands of Mr Ricky Barrett
from Cork.
Numbers of entries in both the handling and Calf classes were
disappointing with the younger members of the Fleming Family
having the handling classes to themselves and only 2 exhibitors
in the calf classes. The Judge commented that the ability of
the handlers and the quality of the 13 calves forward made
up for the small numbers.

With Ailsa, Lyndon and Lindsay Fleming all in different age
groups it was at the Championship stage that they needed to
perform at their best. On this occasion it was younger brother
Lyndon who showed his calf to perfection and took the Champion
Handler title and the Cowdry Cup with older brother Lindsay
in Reserve. Ailsa was awarded the Wallace Cup for the best
under 7 Handler.
The Calf Classes were a two way tussle between the Fleming
Family and Clandeboye Estate. Class honours were evenly split
with 2 wins each. In the Championship the Fleming Family were
victorious with Potterswalls Iatola Starlight taking the Barnowl
Trophy as Champion Calf with Potterswalls Jamaicas Coralie
Reserve and Clandeboye Jazz Evita Honourable Mention.
