The invitation of a small, select, Jersey entry within the ‘Borderway Black and White Sale’ made a spectacular splash with a top price of 5000gns being recorded.

Gray-ridge GC Elegance ET achieved this figure for David Gray and Andy Cope. Elegance is a maternal half-sister of the world renowned Just-A-Few Renaissance Elisa EX94-2E who was All-Canadian 200 & 2001 and All-American 2001 Champion. Sired by Glenholme Counciller, Elegance was purchased by Peter Prior and Cat Moodie for their Designer Jerseys herd in Essex.

The same purchasers also paid second highest price of 3500gns for Eclipse, a full sister of Elegance and from the same flush.

Overall, the 13 head of Jersey averaged 2075gns with five topping the 2000 barrier to give a very even trade.

The Hunter family’s Clydevalley Saturn Leaf VG88 sold for 3000gns to W McCaughern’s ‘Gortmoyle’ herd in Co. Antrim. Due with her third calf around Christmas time, Saturn Leaf has yielded above 7200 kgs at more than 5.5% butterfat in both her previous lactations.

AH Wilson brought forward the April 2004 born Tregibby Remake Roxy and sold for 2100gns to SW Boow’s ‘Dunnerdale’ herd in Cumbria. Roxy was Breed Champion at the recent South Wales All-Breed Calf Show and her breeding goes back to the highly successful showring champion Since 2000, Glanmor Xerxes Roxy EX95-5E.

Potterswalls Juno’s Daisybelle from the Fleming Family, Co Down reached 2000gns with SL & PS Bell, ‘Holmland’ Penrith being the successful purchasers. Having calved at two years of age in September this year, Daisybelle has an impressive show record as a Junior at the Ulster Winter Fair behind her.
