The invitation of a small,
select, Jersey entry within the ‘Borderway
Black and White
Sale’ made a spectacular splash with a top price of 5000gns
being recorded.
Gray-ridge GC Elegance ET achieved this figure for David Gray
and Andy Cope.
Elegance is a maternal half-sister of the world renowned Just-A-Few
Renaissance
Elisa EX94-2E who was All-Canadian 200 & 2001 and All-American
2001
Champion.
Sired by Glenholme Counciller, Elegance was purchased by Peter
Prior and Cat
Moodie for their Designer Jerseys herd in Essex.
The same purchasers also paid second highest price of 3500gns
for Eclipse, a full
sister of Elegance and from the same flush.
Overall, the 13 head of Jersey averaged 2075gns with five topping
the 2000 barrier to
give a very even trade.
The Hunter family’s Clydevalley Saturn Leaf VG88 sold
for 3000gns to W
McCaughern’s ‘Gortmoyle’ herd in Co. Antrim.
Due with her third calf around
Christmas time, Saturn Leaf has yielded above 7200 kgs at more
than 5.5% butterfat
in both her previous lactations.
AH Wilson brought forward the April 2004 born Tregibby Remake
Roxy and sold for
2100gns to SW Boow’s ‘Dunnerdale’ herd in
Cumbria. Roxy was Breed Champion at
the recent South Wales All-Breed Calf Show and her breeding
goes back to the highly
successful showring champion Since 2000, Glanmor Xerxes Roxy
EX95-5E.
Potterswalls Juno’s Daisybelle from the Fleming Family,
Co Down reached 2000gns
with SL & PS Bell, ‘Holmland’ Penrith being
the successful purchasers.
Having calved at two years of age in September this year, Daisybelle
has an
impressive show record as a Junior at the Ulster Winter Fair
behind her.
