The Braymeadow Dispersal Sale
Wednesday 21st April 2004

The Braymeadow herd of pedigree Jerseys from Mr & Mrs N Dain, Malting Farm, Blonorton Road, Lopham, Diss, Norfolk was dispersed at Carlisle on Wednesday 21st April 2004.

This was a most interesting herd and excels in type. Although the herd was run very commercially and not pushed for every last drop of milk, the depth of breeding and potential was respected by a large crowd of Jersey and Holstein breeders from around the UK and Ireland.

Braymeadow Hallmarks Noelle

There were two cows at 2,600gns. Braymeadow Hallmarks Noelle VG86 , a recently fresh Schultz Brook Hallmark’s daughter, sold to Miss A Sercombe, Strangways Farm, Hains Lane, Marnhull, Sturminster, Dorset. Braymeadow Paragons Misty 3 GP84, sold also for 2,600gns to the same home. This heifer in late lactation is backed by a VG89 Styles Master dam and an EX91 Regal Absorbine Dreamer grand dam.

Abbots Lodge Jerseys claimed Braymeadow Bonds Delphinium VG88 for 1,200gns. Just fresh into her 6th lactation, she is backed by 2 generations of VG dams.

Also selling for 1,200 gns was another Schultz Brook Hallmark daughter, Braymeadow Hallmarks Empress. This maiden heifer from the Wellhead Dreamers Squidgy EX91 family enters the herd of Wellhouse Jerseys, Well House, Kirkcolm, Stranraer.

Osberton Jerseys of Mr RJ Saxby, Mill Farm, Osberton, Worksop, Notts claimed Braymeadow Geminis Limelight EX90 for 1,200gns. This Shamrock Grove Gemini daughter sold fresh into her 5th lactation.

It was most encouraging to see a handsome premium being bid for quality and a measure of reward the Dain family deserved for their dedication to Jersey breeding.
