MILLCOAT DISPERSAL SALE
Thursday 15th July 2004

The small but very decent Millcoat herd of Jerseys met the trade of the day returning the highest average. 8 of them made 1000 guineas or more with a top of 2,300 guineas for the much admired Millcoat Serena 19 (VG-86) lot 18 who joins the newly formed Eternity Syndicate from Llanelli in Carmarthenshire.

Millcoat Urchin 58 PIN=£56 (lot 26) was the top price in the very smart crop of served heifers selling to Messers G & D Macalpine from Clitheroe for 1,900 gns and Carol Wood from near by Tewitfield had the bargain of the sale with Millcoat Twinkle 23 (VG-88) lot 12 at 1,500 guineas.

The Urchin family which accounted for nearly half of the herd all descended from Millcoat Urchin 20 (EX-92) who remains with Messrs Duckett, carrying her 14th calf. The Urchin lots averaged £826.

The Twinkle family which originates from La Chasse on Jersey Island included Millcoat Twinkle 30 (lot 32)selling for 1,380 guineas to The Clandeboye Estate Co. Ltd in Co Down NI.
