BRACKENHURST JERSEYS BREAK ALL RECORDS
Tuesday 28th March 2006 witnessed a fine sale of the much
noted Brackenhurst herd of top quality Jerseys at Beeston Castle
Auction Cheshire. The herd was extensive in number with
just under 200 animals going under the hammer, with bidding
fierce and the atmosphere electric from start to finish. A
packed Sale Ring with buyers from Aberdeen to Devon and a whole
host of local buyers. The cows were looking on tremendous
form, displaying tremendous frames and super udders.

Ex91 sold for 6500gns to Smiddiehill Jerseys |
The leading price of the day was Lot 39, selling for
6500gns; Backenhurst Futures Index (Ex91) is
a wonderful daughter of Molly Brook Berretta Future ET and
is due to calve in September to Osberton Imperials Cherubim,
she is still milking well giving 28.7kg. Smiddiehill Holsteins,
secured her for their herd based in Albrighton, Shropshire.
They also took home with them at 1200gns, her daughter Brackenhurst
Cashs Index, a recently served heifer.

2 Ex 90 sold for 6000gns to Smiddiehill Jerseys |
The next animal to take the limelight was Brackenhurst Cherubims
Borage 2nd (Ex90 3yr) selling
for 6000gns, this fabulous cow who calved
her second calf in December and had been bred again on the
16th February to Giprat Belles Connection ET, bred from this
super line of cows, completing four generations of cows scored
very Good or Excellent, and daughter of the tremendous brood
cow Brackenhurst Triumphs Borage (Ex93-2E) selling
for 5500gns. She has been most successful in the show ring
during 2004 and 2005, she calved fresh at the end of February
with her fourth calf milking well giving 37.2kg; Smiddiehill
were the lucky buyer of both these exceptional lots.
The super son of Triumphs Borage (Ex93-2E),
Brachenhurst Borages Kismit, sired by Royals Green Kismit ET,
sold for 2000gns to Thomas Pollock of Co Antrim, Northern Ireland
who purchased 38 animals on the day.
Another daughter of the
Triumphs Borage (Ex93-2E), Brackenhurst
Barbers Bills Borage a recently served heifer was secured by
A K & C I Taylor of Aberdeen Scotland for 1300gns.
Brackenhurst Cherubims Honeydew 2nd (VG86) sold
for 5000gns to Smiddiehill Jerseys, sired by Osberton Imperials
Cherubim and due to calve in September to Q Henius, giving
17.2kg daily.

Cash VG85 sold for 3000gns to Smiddiehill Jerseys |
Brackenhurst Saturns Cash (VG85) bred
from the super Cash family, she is due in September to Ivanhoe
Red Triumph, flashy cow milking in her third lactation was
snapped up by Smiddiehill Jerseys, also secureing her heifer
calf Connection Cash, for 1650gns sired by Giprat Belles Connection. Selling
for 2100gns was Brackenhurst Satans Heligog 2nd this sweet
heifer was secured by Messrs J & S Arrowsmith of Lincolnshire.
Maiden Heifers sold to 1700gns for an exciting heifer that
showed much promise; Cowboys Katherine was purchased by Smiddiehill.
