Jerseys hit a high note at Kilrea Mart
The dispersal sale of the Gortmoyle pedigree Jersey Herd of
William & Karen McCaughern attracted purchasers from far
and wide in Kilrea Mart on Tuesday.
There was a buzzing trade
as purchasers where keen to obtain top bloodlines from this
top prizewinning herd. Prices peaked to a top of 2,500 guineas.
Heifer calves sold to 1,000gns.
Leading prices (in guineas)
were:
2,500: Clydevalley Sultan Belle (maiden heifer, sold to Andrew
Kennedy, Ballymena, of the Maineview Herd.
1,760: Gortmoyle Juno Flora (cow, Ashley Fleming).
1,740: Gortmoyle Sultan Cuddle (calved heifer).
1,600: Clydevalley Pitino Flora (calved cow).
1,550: Gortmoyle Counciller Leaf (calved heifer).
1,420: Gortmoyle Sultan Leaf (calved heifer).
1,380: Clydevalley Jullian Twinkle (calved cow; her heifer
calf, sired by Centurion Sultan, sold for 1,000.
Heifer stirks to top of 1,160gns.
