make top call of 1,750 gns
for Wotton Sultan Champion Yolande
a November calved heifer by Centurian Sultan and daughter
of Wotton Decadences Yolande -
Part of the Wotton Show Team,
Wotton Decadences Yolande
being Surrey Show Supreme Dairy Champion in 2006 - Dam
of Sultan -
sold earlier on in the sale - and achieved second top
price
at 1700 gns also to Royal Farms
she herself in her fourth lactation having calved on
the 23rd March
and producing 36 kilos daily.
A particular feature of
the sale were the cows bred by Centurian Sultan who both
took the eye and the price with fifteen selling to average £1,012.
A
Wotton Decadences daughter lead the prices in the served
heifer run, this time by the homebred bull Wotton Topshot
at 820 gns.
Other averages achieved as follows:-
Heifers in their first lactation to 1750
gns and average £902
Cows in their second lactation to 1670
gns and average £831
Cows in their third lactation to 1070
gns and average £670
Cows in their fouth lactation to 1700
gns and average £707
Cows in their fifth lactation 1170
gns and average £604
giving an overall for cows in first to fifth lactation
of £751.
Fourteen cows sold in the four figure price
range. Wales and West Country came to the south east
looking for well bred Jersey youngstock making the demand quite
exceptional, many heifers sold behind their
dams changing hands between 550 & 650 gns and achieving
an overall average of just under £500 from nine
weeks to eight months.
Amongst the older unserved heifers
was Wotton
Sultan Tilt just fourteen months - a Mulberry
coloured heifer again by Centurion Sultan being secured
by Robert Mann, late of Fletching the Woolpack herd but
now of Ilminster, Somerset, at the figure 1050
gns.
Good to report several potential customers
for the two homebred young bulls - Wotton Jumbo and
Wotton Bumblebee achieving a very creditable price
of 1300
gns and 1150
gns respectively.
DEADSTOCK:-
A lot or two worthy of comment the Fullwood 8200l tank £6,600
the Hanco feed bin £1850,
JCB 525-58 telehandler plus grab £5,350 and Major
slurry tank £3,600.
