Jersey Heifers at 4100gns
Dairy cattle of all breeds, ages and type went under
the hammer at the monthly pedigree dairy cattle day at
Borderway Mart on the 17th August.

The real headline heifer though was in
the Jersey section of the sale. “Clydevalley May
Flora” (Lot 66) from Robert Hunter and family’s
herd at Shotts, Lanarkshire was knocked down for 4100gns
to Messrs Jamieson of “Woodhead”. She had
great show potential plus a wonderful pedigree, she was
by the Danish sire “May” and is a granddaughter
of the homebred Excellent 94 Clydevalley Julian Flora.
The Hunters other fresh heifer, a daughter of their
stocksire Goldust, made 2100gns.
Maiden heifers sold to 1600gns for an impeccably bred
January calf from Craig Brough’s “Caldewvalley” herd.
This stylish 1st prize winner is by the Canadian sires “Lencrest
On Time” from Grayridge Betsy Belle, the third
dam being the legendary Duncan Belle.
The three-week old Jersey calf, Farmlam Limeleafs Nightleaf,
sired by the high components Danish bull DJ Hagri, also
made quite an impact by selling for 480gn, following
her dam at 1800gn.Both Lots being purchased by Mr Allison,
Ayrshire.
