Jersey Dam & Daughter to 1,670gns at Sedgemoor

Tuesday 31st July 2012 saw the Dairy section at Sedgemoor Auction Centre filled with Jerseys as Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt conducted the dispersal of the ‘Berkeley’ herd for AG & NE Nursaw who are ceasing milk production due to ill health. No less than 34 different purchasers with a very strong Welsh contingent made the most of the 146 Head on offer.

Topping the day was the 2nd calver ‘Berkeley Spring 6th’ by ‘DJ Lirsk’, she had given 3086 kgs on the organic system as a heifer and sold for 1400gns. Her 3 week old heifer calf by ‘Hollylane Lilibets Legacy’ sold after made 270gns. At 1200gns was ‘Berkeley Saphire 8th’ by ‘Molly Brook Hallmark’ she had also just calved to her 2nd. The freshly calved ‘Berkeley Pansy 2nd’ sold for 1000gns in her 6th lactation.

Incalf heifers due to ‘DJ May’ sold to 1000gns for ‘Berkeley Yvonne 10th’. The bulling heifer ‘Berkeley Pansy 3rd’ by ‘SC Gold Dust Paramount Iatola’ reached 500gns and yearling heifers to 450gns on two occasions for ‘Berkeley Nancy 7th’ and ‘Berkeley Saphire 11th’

July born heifer calves were in strong demand selling to 270gns on three occasions for daughters of ‘DJ May’ and ‘Legacy’
