Spring Coloured Breeds Sale Sells
to 2500gns Twice
15th April 2014
Tuesday 15th April saw the Spring Coloured breeds Sale
take place at Beeston Castle Auction and a great entry
of 144 was received with vendors travelling far and wide
to sell their animals; breeds represented were, Ayrshires & Red & Whites,
Brown Swiss, Dairy Shorthorns and Jerseys.
Milkers were the flavour of the day and certainly at
the top of the shopping list by buyers who were eager
to secure the right type of animal which was milking
well and showing all of the right credentials. 32 different
buyers were recorded.
The Jersey section of the catalogue had some wonderful
animals consigned and offered buyers plenty of choice
and quality; the headline was a tremendous Jersey from
Judith Waring for a heifer by Rapid Bay Reagan ET, Cherryview
Reagan Totem she calved on the 9th February and sold
for 1850gns to M H Richardson from Doncaster.
The next price was 1600gns this was for Ravenfield Milkys
Springtime, from Ravenfield Jerseys who was dispersing
their entire milking portion many of which were show
cows and super brood cows. The second calver which has
had a successful show carer as an In milk heifer, she
was snapped up by a Yorkshire purchaser who also took
home other animal from this home to start off a foundation
for a new Jersey herd.
Richard Saxby sold a great heifer with lots of style;
Saxown Excite Patsy 4 calved in March and was purchased
by B C Patten of Nantwich. A good group of heifers consigned
from G M & D J Pye sold to 1450gns.
In calf Heifers sold to 1020gns for a lovely heifer
from the Ravenfield Dispersal sale. Maiden heifers were
a great trade and demand was high, a really sweet calf
Bar-M Roxy 256th sold for 500gns to J Jolly, Stoke on
Trent, who also purchased another lot at the same price
from the same stable Bar-M Jerseys. A fantastic bull
from Savage & Fleming sold for 500gns.
