English Gold Top Sale

Friday 15th April 2016

The first sale of Jerseys to take place in the UK in 2016 at Exeter Livestock Centre saw a tremendous trade with buyers competing hard to secure quality Jerseys!

It was a clean sweep for Jeff & Anthea Daw of Wiltshire with their Jubilee herd of Jerseys topping the In Calf Heifers with "Jubilee Legacy Roxy" by Hollylane Lilibets Legacy out of 3 VG & EX dams going back to Glanmor Xerxes Roxy EX95, she sold due in September to Actionman at £1750 to Vicky Dimond of Dorset. The Daw’s also sold a tremendous Bull "Jubilee Colonel" also by Legacy out of the renowned Ceres Family from Sowden and is maternal brother to “Jubilee Excitation Ceres EX94" that has been unbeaten in the show ring in the last two years! He sold well at £1600 to Mr Harvey of South Devon.

The In Calf Heifers really were in tremendous demand and at £1500 Treginegar Dairy Farm of Padstow sold "Glanmor Million Pound" a heifer by Select Million out of 3 generations of VG or EX dams, she sold due in May to Messrs W Bennett of Gloucester who purchased 11 heifers.

Messrs J & E Dickinson travelled down from Barnsley in South Yorkshire and sold 30 In Calf Heifers to a tremendous trade which topped at £1400 for "Holmfirth Lix Naoni" by Danish DJ Lix due in May to Red Poll. Others sold to £1320, £1300 x 2 & £1220 and three Autumn calving Heifers also sold well at £1000 apiece with their consignment averaged a very creditable £983!

John Vooght of Dunsford sold three “Maervale" bred heifers by Danish DJ Broiler to £1280 & £1220! Bruce & Jenny Ravenhill-White of Umberleigh sold three In Calf heifers from their “Whitenhill" herd very well to £1220, £1000 & £900 whilst Oliver Neagle of Hants sold his best In Calf Heifer at £1100 for “Hiltonbury Broiler Reality" by Danish DJ Broiler due in July.

A small entry of mixed quality Freshly Calved Heifers sold to a decent trade topping at £1320 for “Hiltonbury Ace Possum" by Senn Sational Paramount Ace from Oliver Neagle who sold other heifers to £1200 & £1050.
