Holsteins & Jerseys Sell to £2000 at Exeter!
A cracking entry of Cows and heifers forward for the first sale at Exeter Livestock
Centre in 2017 saw a flying trade! A packed ring of buyers
saw many farmers from all over the South West competing
hard to secure fresh milk!
Top of the day was £2000 for “Dartview Steffan Rosa 61” a
heifer by Lynbrook Steffan from Messrs JJ Palfrey & Sons
of Dartmouth, the same vendors sold another heifer at £1920.
Other Holstein Heifers sold to £1720 "Chettiscombe
Twist Quickstep 5” by Cogent Twist from Ian & Caroline
Tapp of Tiverton who also sold another heifer at £1650, £1700
was achieved for the best of smart consignment from Keith & Jane
Hulbert of Honiton who continue to disperse their “Janke” herd
and a smart Heifer from David Snell & Family of Cullompton
sold well at £1650 whilst her heifer calf made £130.
British Friesian heifers sold exceptionally well to £1850 for Richard
Harvey of Axminster who is dispersing his herd as they
calve, others made £1700 and £1500.
Holstein cows topped at £1820 for an outstanding fourth calver “Janke
Penman Polly” by Oakroyal Penman from Keith & Jane
Hulbert. The same vendor sold other second calvers to £1650
and two fourth calvers to £1550 & £1520!
A cracking consignment of cows from Messrs GP & J
Gibbins of Cullompton met a super trade and topped at £1750
for “Shethena Regal Julia” a second calver
yielding 43Kgs by Moorshard Regal, the same vendor sold
others to £1700, £1680, £1650 & £1620.
British Friesian cows sold to £1400 for a fourth
calver from Richard Harvey.
An outstanding consignment of Pedigree Jerseys from the famous “Bluegrass” herd
of Barry, Jenny & Claire Daw of Hertfordshire lit
the ring alight when they came through and flew to £2000
for a smart second calver “Bluegrass Grandprixs
Auburn VG86” a second calver by Rapid bay Grand
prix and also at £2000 was “Bluegrass Excitations
Flower VG85” a second calver by Bridon Excitation
backed with 6 generations of VG & EX dams. The same
vendor sold other second calvers to £1750 & £1600
and their consignment averaged £1837! Jersey Heifers
topped at £1500 for “Sowden Timekeeper Miranda
3” by Potterswalls Timekeeper from Malcolm, Anne & Ian
Huxtable of Crediton who sold others to £1100 and
a second calver at £1000.
Holstein In Calf Heifer sold to £1100 for Robert Page of West Sussex whilst “Hilltown” bred
Ayrshire In Calf Heifers sold to £900 for John
Vooght of Dunsford. Friesian yearling heifers sold to £410
for David Snell & Family and £400 x 3 for Ken & Cathie
Cottey of Whimple. A British Friesian bull sold at £1100
for Messrs Ansdell Farms Ltd of Barnstaple.
