Potterswalls Jersey
reigns supreme
The Fleming Family, who
run the noted Potterswalls Jersey herd based at Seaforde,
County Down, had a very successful outing to the Causeway
Classic, held at Balmoral.

| The first prize winning junior Jersey
handler at the Causeway Classic was Ailsa Fleming from
Seaforde. Presenting the trophy are John Thornton, Alltech;
and Ann Caldwell, Ulster Bank, sponsor. |
They scooped the supreme championship and the honourable
mention in the Jersey calf section; while the younger members
of the team, Lindsay and Lyndon Fleming, were crowned champion
and reserve respectively in the young handlers’ competition.

Judge, Iwan Morgan, Carmarthenshire, Wales, awarded the
supreme overall championship to Potterswalls Ressurection
Lady. Born in September 2008, she is by Rapid Bay Ressurection,
and is out of a home-bred dam.

Standing in reserve position was Clandeboye Hallmark Marbel,
bred and exhibited by Clandeboye Estates based at Bangor,
County Down. This January 2009 born entry was sired by Schultz
Brook Hallmark, and is bred from Early Rise Renaissance Marbel.

Potterswalls Iatola Lady claimed the honourable metion.
Born in January 2008, she is by SC Gold Dust Paramount Iatola,
and is bred from Potterswalls Jades B Lady.

The Fleming family from Seaforde, Ashley,
Lynda, Lyndsay, Lyndon and Ailsa, won the Jersey calf
championship at the Causeway Classic with the home-bred
Potterswalls Ressurection Lady. Included are sponsors,

“I am very impressed with the quality of the calves
and the standard of the showmanship,” said judge, Iwan
Morgan, who runs the 100-cow Erie Holstein and Jersey herd
in South Wales.
