Bath & West Dairy Show

An exceptionally strong entry of over 60 Jersey cows and calves, brought forward by twenty exhibitors from ten counties in England and wales, was rewarded by claiming the Supreme Championship, Interbreed pairs Championship and Reserves in the Interbreed Heifer, Overall Champion Calf and Champion Showman competitions.

With six breeders from West Wales crossing the bridge, it was the Wilson family from Tregibby, Cardigan, who won the Supreme Championship with Bluegrass Charlies Happiest. The magnificent display of Jersey cattle was larger than any of the other five breeds competing, and was rewarded for this show of strength.

Whitenhill Jerseys, from Umberleigh in North Devon, won the inugural Pairs Championship as Jenny Ravenhill-White and daughter, Jessica, led Whitenhill Fusions Windswept and Whitenhill Fusions Windsale to the top of the class.

Reserve Overall Calf Champion was Mydrim Grand Prix Louise, bred and shown by James Evans from Narberth, Pembrokeshire.

Jersey entries won all four of the Calf Classes with the Future Dreams Partnership, Pembrokeshire, and Glanmor Jerseys, Carmarthenshire, taking two of the classes. The fourth class was won by Mark Davis’ Rivermead Jerseys from Devon. In all cases, the calves were home-bred.

Fflur Davies, leading on behalf of the Future Dreams Partnership, was also crowned Reserve Champion Showman in the Calf Showmanship Classes.

Mark Taylor, a very proud UK Jerseys chairman, travelled down from Shropshire and exclaimed his delight for the support shown by Jersey breeders, and the rewards they had secured for their efforts.

Welsh Jersey exhibitors lead the charge at The Dairy Show

Jersey breeders from Wales claimed the Supreme Dairy Championship and Reserve Overall Champion in the Calf Classes at the Bath & West Dairy Show, in Somerset, on 3rd October.

Devon Jersey breeders share in success at Bath & West Dairy Show

Jersey breeders from the South West contributed to the outstanding entry of more than 60 cows and calves from the breed at the Bath & West Dairy Show, Shepton Mallett, on 3rd October.

The breed was rewarded by winning the Supreme Championship, Interbreed Pairs Championship and Reserves in the Interbreed Heifer, Overall Champion Calf and Champion Showman competitions.

From Devon, Whitenhill Jerseys won the inaugural Pairs Championship as Jenny Ravenhill-White and daughter, Jessica, led Whitenhill Fusions Windswept and Whitenhill Fusions Windsale to the top of the class. Mark Davis was placed first in the Any Other Breed Baby Calf class with Rivermead Tequila Tweeny.
