Matriarch, Sowden Juno Tracy 96 (3) completes a first among all breeds with her twin daughters Sowden Sampson Tracy EX (4) and Tracy 2 EX95 (6)

Bred by Malcolm & Ann Huxtable and Son, Ian, in Devon, this remarkable feat is a UK first for any breed. Longevity is the order of the day with Tracy 2 completing seven lactations and the other family members six lactations each. Tracy 2 was purchased by the Fleming Family for their Potterswalls herd in Northern Ireland, while the other two animals remained with their Sowden herdmates.

Michael Parkinson, head of Classification for Holstein UK commented: “The Huxtable family deserve the plaudits for breeding the Tracy family; they are a superb example of the breed. It also shows how Classification can add value to a herd by identifying the conformation traits that deliver longevity.

“It is only a few years ago that a different Jersey herd was the first of all breeds in the country to breed ten Excellent second-calvers. The combination of these two firsts in the Classification history book for Jerseys shows what depth of Type there is in a numerically smaller breed.”
