The SW Club staged a Photo Competition as an alternative to its 2007
Herds’ Competition.
The challenge was taken up by the younger breeders in the
Club and pictured are, left to right, Mark Davies (Rivermead)
with Lanhydrock Danish Poppy, an early purchase for the herd
which has already taken the Devon County Breed Champion,
Michael and Claire Colwell (Quintrell) with Quintrell Ultramarine,
the successful Inter-Breed Champion at the 2007 Royal Cornwall
Show, and Liz and Tyrell Selway who retired in 2007, having
organised the SW Herds’ Competition for well over a
decade. |
Gold Cup victory celebrates 50 Golden Years

It is fifty years to the month since Ian Macalpine’s father purchased
Laneside Farm near Clitheroe and Ian and wife, Sally, have celebrated
in the most spectacular style by winning the Gold Cup – this
has not been achieved by a Jersey herd for over 30 years. |

Jerseys, secured the Breed Championship at The 2007 Royal Show. This
follows Amberlight’s similar successes at The Dairy Farming Event
and AgriScot in 2004. |

Supreme Inter-breed Championship at The Royal Highland Show, 2007. |

time in four years at The Royal Cornwall Show, 2007. Ultramarine has
been Jersey Breed Champion at The Royal Cornwall On four successive
occasions. |
