Membership and services update
It is especially pleasing to report that 75 new members have
joined the Society. This is a very positive reflection on the
increasing interest that the Jersey breed holds in this country.
During the year, 106 herds have received Classification visits,
again an indication of the commitment from our breeders to
improve their herd and produce cattle that are functionally
sound for the future.
Classification is an excellent aid to highlighting the strengths
of any herd, and to identifying the areas for improvement,
quickly and easily.
With the government proposing to bring a more structured format
to animal compensation, herds that have taken part in the Classification
service start at a distinct advantage as they will enter the
proposed valuation chain at a higher level.
